Successful Long-Term Outcomes and Continuationof Sport in Competitive Athletes, 10 Years Following Hip Arthroscopy for Femoroacetabular Impingement
The results of the study indicate a high survival rate (>90%), and satisfaction rates in athletes 10 years following arthroscopy. Over 80% of athletes continue to be involved in sporting activities to varying degrees. In cases where athletes did not continue with sports, the reasons were multifactorial. Continuing to play was the only prognostic variable associated with satisfaction, indicating that athletes are most happy when they can continue to participate in their sports. Clinically, the study highlights the value of arthroscopy as a treatment for FAI in supporting long-term sporting participation in athletes.
